Elena has joined the ITM team in July 2023 as Laboratory Manager. Currently, she is also furthering her academic journey as a PhD student in Medical Science at the Private University in the Principality of Liechtenstein (UFL), which she began in October 2023. This new chapter in her career demonstrates her commitment to advancing scientific knowledge and contributing to cutting-edge research in the fields of biomedical, biological and bioinformatics research.

Elena Thaler is a PhD student and BMA at the Institute for Translational Medicine at the UFL. Over the last 10 years she has acquired international experience in various laboratories in different countries in various biomedical fields. In addition she used to work in diagnostics and sales.

She graduated in molecular biology at the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Mathematics of Cyril and Methodius University (2008-2013). Subsequently, she worked in a sales department in the pharmaceutical industry (2013-2015), followed by an involvement in two research projects in Ljubljana, Slovenia (2015-2017). She got her Master's degree at the Faulty of Biotechnology in Ljubljana, Slovenia, majoring in molecular and cell biology (2017-2020). During the Coronavirus pandemic, she joined the Risch Group in the Corona Lab (2020-2023), and since July 2023, she is part of the Immunogenetics group at the ITM.

Multilingual: Fluent in Macedonian (native), English, German, Slovenian, Bulgarian, and Croatian.

Experienced in GMP and industry safety regulations.

Committed team player with a focus on personal and overall team performance improvement.
